The rest of the NFL will eventually learn not to allow talented wide receivers like George Pickens to slip past the first round. Fortunately for Pittsburgh Steelers supporters, the lesson hasn’t quite sunk in, which explains how they were able to select George Pickens in the middle of the second round of the 2022 NFL draught.

Pickens displayed flashes of his greatness during the preseason, and now that he’s getting more chances and the stakes are higher, he’s doing the same.

Pickens displayed the exceptional talent that should have put him one of the top pass catchers off the board in this year’s talented class early on in Thursday night’s game against the Cleveland Browns.

George Pickens, a rookie wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has primarily served as a bogeyman in the passing game during the first two games of the season. But it didn’t take long for quarterback Mitch Trubisky to hand the ball to Pickens on Thursday night, and Pickens made it count.

Trubisky and Pickens must continue to establish connections like these if the Steelers’ offense is to be effective. Early in the second quarter, the Steelers and Browns are deadlocked at seven each.

Amari Cooper scores a touchdown from 11 yards out to give the Browns a 7-0 lead.

For the Browns, Amari Cooper scored his second touchdown in the previous two weeks.

Of the 48 touchdowns he has scored in his career, the one on Thursday Night Football might be the simplest. Terrell Edmunds gave Cooper too much room and Jacoby Brissett slanted the ball in Cooper’s direction. The Browns are in the lead after the first quarter after scoring a touchdown from 11 yards out.

After the Browns successfully converted a fourth-and-one from the Cleveland 49, it was three plays later. Brissett gained 3 yards on a quarterback sneak. While Cooper has two receptions for 11 yards and Brissett is 4-of-7 for 20 yards and the touchdown, respectively.

Miles Killebrew’s deflection of Corey Bojorquez’s punt gave the Steelers their first chance to score. The Cleveland 48 was reached by a 25-yard punt.

When Pittsburgh reached the Cleveland 32, it was in a fourth-and-four situation. Mike Tomlin chose to attempt a 49-yard field goal in the windy conditions, but Chris Boswell’s kick was wide right.
