Anthony Edwards Fuels Timberwolves’ Historic Game 7 Upset, Fueled by Year-Long Grudge Against Jamal Murray

The star player for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards, revealed that he was motivated by a year-long resentment towards Jamal Murray in order to masterfully orchestrate a historic Game 7 comeback against the Denver Nuggets.

Edwards told the press that after Denver’s 2023 playoffs first-round victory over Minnesota, Murray’s post-game trash language had spurred his desire for revenge. This was revealed following the Timberwolves’ stunning 98-90 triumph.

After leading the Timberwolves to a close victory with 35 points, Murray reportedly confronted several of their players at a neighborhood pub and made fun of Mike Conley by teasing him, saying, “I’m sick of you, you can’t guard me.” Observing the conversation, Edwards remarked with confidence, “We’ll be back. We’ll see you again after we’re completely loaded.

The Timberwolves overcame a steep 20-point lead in the second half to pull off the biggest Game 7 comeback in NBA history, proving that Edwards’ predictions were accurate. Edwards had a modest individual stat line of 16 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists, but his influence went beyond those figures.

Karl-Anthony Towns, who led the Timberwolves in scoring with 23 points and 12 rebounds, led the team in this victory through teamwork. The Timberwolves’ comeback was largely due to Edwards’ tough defense of Murray, who was only able to muster two field goals in the second half.

Murray finished with a game-high 35 points, while Nikola Jokić chipped in with 34, but the Nuggets’ other players found it difficult to score. Together with Edwards’ outstanding defensive play, the Timberwolves’ collective effort proved to be too much for the reigning champions.

Edwards’ post-match remarks emphasized the team’s resolve and confidence. “It demonstrates who we are,” he declared. “Once we really lock in on the defensive end, man, we’re a hell of a team to beat.”

For the first time in twenty years, the Timberwolves have advanced to the Western Conference finals. The Dallas Mavericks are their next opponent, and they’ll be ready for them with a rejuvenated sense of self-assurance and a grudge against Jamal Murray that dates back a year.
