The Minnesota Vikings’ T.J. Hockenson

Hockenson has 14 targets, which puts him seventh among tight ends, but he has a scoreless 7/64 line and dropped a few passes last week against the Commanders. Hockenson has participated in more than 90% of the Lions’ snaps, and many have identified him as a fourth-year breakout potential.

After giving up a 5/82 line to Dallas Goedert in Week 2, the Vikings are 21st in fantasy points allowed to tight ends. Hockenson should be a permanent fixture in lineups as an easy TE1 choice because he played practically every snap in a game with a hefty 53-point total.

Higbee has turned his 18 targets—which are second only to Mark Andrews’ 19 at the position—into 12/110/0 despite having four red-zone targets that rank in the top 10 in the entire league. Despite his frequent usage, Higbee dropped a few passes in Week 1 and never seems to be able to accomplish much.

The third-most routes among tight ends have been run by Higbee, who has continued to play 94% and 97% of the Rams’ snaps. After Darren Waller (6/50/1), Foster Moreau (3/30), Travis Kelce (8/121/1), and Jody Fortson (1-yard TD) all took advantage of Arizona’s porous pass defense, the Cardinals are dead last in fantasy points allowed to tight ends.

In a game with a 48.5-point total this week, Higbee is a top-10 choice at the position. Ertz was only able to participate in 60% of the snaps in Week 1 due to a summer calf injury, but he was back to almost 100% of the snaps against the Raiders the following week.

Ertz has caught 10 of his 14 targets for a total of 89 yards and one touchdown, which ranks him tied for fifth in the league at the position. Since joining the team from the Eagles, Kyler Murray has made Ertz one of his go-to targets to advance the ball and in crucial situations.

The Rams have kept Kyle Pitts and Dawson Knox in check through the first two weeks, but Ertz deserves to be treated as the backup TE1.
