Smith-Schuster only saw three targets despite Patrick Mahomes completing 35 passes last Thursday night against the Chargers, giving them a scoreless 3/10 line as the WR87 for Week 2. JuJu continued to play 74% of the snaps and ran 29 routes, ranking third on the team behind Marquez Valdes-31 Scantling’s outside and Travis Kelce’s 35.

Smith-Schuster serves as Mahomes’ slot receiver, and the Colts are still smarting from last Sunday’s 6/78/2 demolition of them by Jaguars slot receiver Christian Kirk. The Colts’ pass-defense DVOA ranking is 29. With 50.5 points, Chiefs-Colts has the third-highest total of the week, while Kansas City has the second-highest implied team total with 28.5 points. JuJu appears to be a secure WR3.
Thielen has had middling receiving numbers to start the season (3/36 and 4/52) and didn’t really get going against the Eagles last week until the fourth quarter. But Thielen and Justin Jefferson share the team lead with 82 pass routes. Simply put, at the age of 32, he is not hitting goals.
With 12 targets less than Jefferson, Thielen is tied for second on the squad with Irv Smith. However, Thielen is the team’s second-leading target in the end zone and his legs should still be fresh in September. The opportunities are there for Thielen, and this is a plus-plus position against a Lions team that ranks 25th in fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers and 19th in pass-defense DVOA.
The highest point total in Week 3 is 53 during Lions Vikings. In their performances versus Detroit, A.J. Brown (10/155), Terry McLaurin (4/75), Jahan Dotson (4/59/1), and Curtis Samuel (7/78/1) all met or exceeded expectations. Thielen is a contender for WR3 in Week 3. Wilson is the hottest waiver-wire addition of the week.
He just had an 8/102/2 outburst against the Browns last week, which saw his snap share increase to 61% from Week 1’s 49%. Wilson played more than half of his snaps in the slot against Cleveland, where he attracted a team-high 14 targets on 36 routes and appeared to take Braxton Berrios’ place inside as Corey Davis and Elijah Moore lined up on the outside.
Wilson is Joe Flacco’s go-to option when he needs a big play since he leads the NFL with eight targets in the red zone and has attracted 22 targets on 71 routes. Although they have played Mitch Trubisky and Cooper Rush, the Bengals are ranked 14th in pass-defense DVOA and have given up the fifth-fewest fantasy points to wideouts.
CeeDee Lamb (7/75), Diontae Johnson (7/55), and Noah Brown (5/91) all had productive weeks versus Cincinnati. Flacco is more aggressive but not much better than Trubisky and Rush. Wilson’s ability to create plays will also be problematic. The Jets could once again be in pursuit of points on the scoreboard as touchdown underdogs at home.
