Akers out-carried Darrell Henderson 15-10 in Week 2 but still only managed to average 2.9 YPC, after only participating in 18% of the snaps in Week 1 and carrying the ball three times for no yards. Henderson was also the one to score the quick touchdown. Since suffering an Achilles tear in 2021, Akers has simply not looked good.

Despite the Rams’ and coach Sean McVay’s best efforts, Akers’ explosiveness appears to have diminished. The Rams are aware that Henderson cannot maintain health with a heavy workload, thus Akers must play. He simply fails the eye test. Henderson continues to be the favored RB2.

When it came to playing time and opportunities in Week 1, Chase Edmonds appeared to be one of the main winners. However, the Dolphins changed things up in Week 2 and started Mostert as the team’s starting running back. Compared to Edmonds’ eight carries and targets, Mostert out-snapped him 55% to 51%.

After two weeks, it’s difficult to determine what is happening in Miami’s backfield because Mostert was more active on early downs and in passing situations. This might turn into a regular fantasy nightmare.

As of right now, the Bills have shut down rival running backs, ranking third in run-defense DVOA, third in opponent yards per carrying, and third in fantasy points allowed at the position. Before trusting either Edmonds or Mostert as an RB2/FLEX, we need to learn more about this Dolphins backfield.

Ty Johnson joined the two-man committee for the Jets, seeing just enough snaps (19%) to cause an issue. The two-man committee now consists of three players. He was the Jets’ expert on third downs and two-minute situations. Against the Browns, Michael Carter had a 5-1 target advantage over Hall, but Hall converted his one look into a quick receiving touchdown. Although each back received seven carries, Carter played more than 60% of the snaps in each of the first two games.

Hall becomes useless in 12-team teams if he is going to lose playing time to Johnson and fall behind Carter. Three-man backfield committees are not our favorite, and we dislike them the most in poor offenses. The projected total for the Jets in Week 3 is 19.75 points, which ranks fifth lowest. Hall cannot compete with us in our FLEX position.

The Rams made a point to include Robinson more against the Falcons after his two targets and one grab in Week 1 against the Bills. He finished with a 4/53/1 line on five targets after catching a brief touchdown in the first quarter. Later, Robinson had a second touchdown overturned due to an enigmatic “medical timeout” from the concussion spotter.

In an aggressive pass offense, Robinson is frequently on the field; in the first two weeks, he has only run three fewer routes than teammate Cooper Kupp.

Only seven teams have allowed more catches to oppose wide receivers than the Cardinals, who are ranked 28th in pass-defense DVOA. After Robinson’s Week 2 WR24 performance, Rams coach Sean McVay asked for even more Robinson participation. The Rams’ implied team total of 26 points is the sixth-highest on the schedule, and this game’s 48.5-point total is the fourth-highest of Week 3.
