Milan Fashion Week has officially begun, with Fendi being one of the first major fashion houses to show off. While last season’s focus was very clearly on color and “Fendi style” viewed through a contemporary lens, this season the brand has a completely different feel.
Fendi fall/winter 2023 collection: classic elegance from an irregular perspective by Kim Jones
With the Fall Winter 2023 Collection, Kim Jones has brought a more mature wardrobe. The show began with a pale blue knit sweater, knotted cleverly into a fake tie, paired with a knee-length leather skirt. Then there was a transparent long-sleeved shirt with a collar in blue tones, worn inside a sleeveless leather dress – the familiar style of a schoolgirl’s uniform. Followed by a series of office designs that showcase the utility of men’s wear, but still hide the feminine edges: lead gray waistcoats with a cut at the shoulders, pleated skirts Cloud-gray leather layered over the matching pants, and the pants were tailored with a twist, attached with cape-like skirts that let loose at the back.
The collection stands out with masculine cuts that have been transformed in a subtle, soft way. The details of the collar, see-through, lace material, and pleats, … combined with discreet coats, and serious casual pants, ensure the Fendi ladies a minimalist elegant look in the office, but still equally sexy and seductive for evening parties. Beautiful graphic motifs from the 1996 Fendi Autumn/Winter collection have been seamlessly integrated into this latest collection, along with beautiful knitted designs that breathe new life. Here, the unique combination of classicism and self-expression makes clear the Italian fashion house’s desire to remove boundaries, destroy dualities and subvert all expectations.
As usual, Fendi continues to bring new looks to the iconic bags such as Peekaboo and Baguette. Embossed crocodile and woven leather motifs appear on the Fendi First bags. Regarding the new “faces”, the first is FENDI C’mon, based on the idea of elegant simplicity coined by Kim Jones, in order to match the overall atmosphere of the collection. Meanwhile, the FENDI Multi is a versatile bag designed to easily transform into two distinct styles. This bag can transform from a tote bag to a chic dinner party bag with just one quick movement. “ That duality is very FENDI – just like the idea of something that seems simple but is in fact very complex.” – Silvia Venturini Fendi describes the “miracle” bag.
Not looking for creative inspiration from distant beauties that are hard to see, with the Fendi Fall Winter 2023 Collection, Kim Jones discovered the charm in the “house” of Fendi: the muse Delfina Delettrez Fendi – jewelry designer and also the fourth generation heir to the Italian luxury brand. Expressing her inspiration, Art Director Kim Jones said: “The first day Delfina came to work, she wore a blue and brown suit. I thought she looked great. There’s a chic yet playful side to the way she plays with Fendi. That’s what I love.”Therefore, it is no coincidence that blue was chosen to open the collection, as well as becoming a very gentle color splash among the many typical Fendi neutral colors such as black, white, and brown. , beige, etc. Then, when closing the BST, the fashionistas couldn’t help but be “excited” by the explosion of the two most brilliant colors: pink and red.
