Charles Lee’s hiring as the Charlotte Hornets’ next head coach was formally confirmed. With ten years of experience, including a championship season with the Milwaukee Bucks, Lee is a well-regarded assistant coach in the NBA. After the Boston Celtics’ current playoff run, he will join the Hornets.
Steve Clifford, who just joined the team in a front-office capacity, is succeeded by Lee. The Hornets believe that under Lee’s direction, the team will succeed more. LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller lead a youthful, talented roster that he will likely work with; also, a top player selected by lottery in the 2024 NBA Draft may be added.
As stated in the team’s statement, “I am honored to be named head coach of the Charlotte Hornets,” Lee was named head coach. “I look forward to collaborating with the organization to create a winning culture in Charlotte.”
